Finding AIS and working with Heather has given me a community and supportive environment that understands the complexity of both stuttering and the stuttering journey. Their philosophy and holistic approach to stuttering therapy exemplifies the importance of addressing the mental health challenges associated with stuttering, showing that sometimes speech therapy is less about speech and more about therapy. There aren’t enough words to fully express how thankful I am, I can’t thank everyone at AIS enough for supporting me and helping me learn to embrace my stuttering and be more comfortable taking up space and time.

There are rare people in your life who you meet for the first time and know they will change your life. I have been stuttering for more than 20 years now and Carl is the first therapist who actually understood my stuttering even better than I did. It has resulted in increased confidence for me in all kinds of situations be it social or professional and increased fluency has come as an unexpected byproduct. Not to mention, the financial support they gave me given my current financial status as a grad student.

We took our son to the American Institute for Stuttering at the age of 3 after not being happy with the therapy he was receiving locally. For years we commuted to the city for therapy. As my son got older and did not have the time to commute regularly, we did therapy sessions via Skype. I would not go anywhere else.
