Valerie shares her recent experience with the AIS intensive program
Here she talks about what she did and didn’t expect to achieve during the program, the subway challenge, and how stuttering is different for her in English and Spanish.
Looked for many other places to do therapy but did not felt like those were the places because I felt they were trying to sell the magic potion to cure stuttering and make me fluent which I felt didn't exist. But after coming in contact with AIS, I was able to know how to live with stuttering and how to feel free and less anxious even while stuttering... They also gave me financial assistance to help me. I couldn't recommend enough of this place. Would give more stars if Google allowed me.

Finding AIS and working with Heather has given me a community and supportive environment that understands the complexity of both stuttering and the stuttering journey. Their philosophy and holistic approach to stuttering therapy exemplifies the importance of addressing the mental health challenges associated with stuttering, showing that sometimes speech therapy is less about speech and more about therapy. There aren’t enough words to fully express how thankful I am, I can’t thank everyone at AIS enough for supporting me and helping me learn to embrace my stuttering and be more comfortable taking up space and time.

Multidirectional approach, not like standard speech therapy. Like the multi-pronged direction involved in speech and communication. Highly recommend.

We had my son evaluated here 11 years ago when he was 3. The evaluation was thorough and the practitioners were gentle, caring, and understanding. They gave us a clear understanding of his case, and equipped us with the knowledge to find appropriate therapy near our home.

I could barely communicate when I started their class, and now I have all the tools I need to speak. What a world of a difference these people made in my life, I highly highly highly recommend this program and could not imagine my life without them. Thank you all so much <3 After I finished their class I did Toastmasters for 6 months and I would definitely recommend that as continual learning for every single person who takes the class, that also made a huge difference for me.

I have had traditional stuttering therapy regarding stuttering techniques and stuttering strategies which helped at times but never actually dealt with the deeper challenges of stuttering. Speech therapy services with AIS has been eye opening for me because for the first time speech therapy means communication and counseling... I feel heard, I feel respected, and encouraged... I have been able to take chances, try new things, get back into things I was passionate about, really finally enjoying living my life as a person who stutters.
