International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) falls on October 22nd every year, and in honor of this day, the International Stuttering Association (ISA) is holding its annual online conference this month! The 2016 ISAD Online Conference is now live on the ISA website until October 22nd. Although here at AIS we tend to treat every day as Stuttering Awareness Day, we consider the 22nd an especially important day for everyone in the community.

The ISAD Online Conference offers a unique opportunity for people who stutter and professionals to share, discuss, and debate various topics within the field. We’re eager to check out the submissions this year and we hope you’ll do the same. Don’t forget to leave a few comments! As a part of the online conference, Dr. Heather Grossman (woo woo!) co-authored a paper with Dr. Gunars Neiders, titled “Holistic Approach to Stuttering Using Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy,” where they discuss the importance of applying REBT principles to stuttering therapy as a means of creating more effective, withstanding changes. Dr. Grossman and Dr. Neiders are currently working on a book together and this paper offers a snapshot of what it will cover.

Stay-tuned for their book, but for now: You can view their article here.As during many previous years, Heather is also on the “Ask an Expert” panel for the conference. She and several other stuttering experts are available to answer questions about stuttering therapy or research. Feel free to bring any of your questions to the table!
